okay so for your statement to be grammatically correct, it either has to go something like this:
"I think scientists then never thought......" because "didn't thought" is just.... *vomit*
or
"I think scientists then didn't think..."

but for any of this to really be correct you need to first pre-determine what time you mean by "then", for example "in the 1990s" and then you still can't say just "then", you need to add something, the best example I could think of would be "back then"
also, scientist needs to be in the plural form


So all in all we either get the sentence

"I think scientists back then didn't think that "everything is possible on the internet" means something like that..."
or
"I think scientists (back then) never thought that "everything is possible on the internet" means something like that..."
